Former Pitt running back Darrin Hall was claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers, according to an announcement from the team on Saturday. He had previous offseason stints with the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns in his home state of Ohio.

Hall went undrafted in April but was signed by the Browns on May 3. He was released on May 6 but was then claimed off waivers by the Bengals the next day. However, the Bengals waived Hall on Friday, prompting his move to the Packers on Saturday.

During his time at Pitt, Hall was one half of an explosive Panthers rushing duo that also included Atlanta Falcons draft pick Qadree Ollison mls real estate for sale. Together, they ran for 2,357 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2018. For his part, Hall contributed 1,144 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 7.5 yards per carry.

The Packers have emphasized their passing game in recent years, as they have Aaron Rodgers, one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, under center. Their last 1,000-yard rusher was Eddie Lacy, who amassed 1,139 yards in 2014. Since then, no Packers running back has been able to top 800 yards in a season.

However, with Matt LaFleur taking over for longtime head coach Mike McCarthy and Rodgers entering his 15th season in the NFL, the Packers offense is likely to undergo some changes in the near future. And if Hall is able to distinguish himself in training camp, he could catch on with the team at an opportune time.
